HUNTINGTON ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥” The West Virginia Department of Education on Wednesday hosted a competition for middle and high school students to spark their entrepreneurial mindset.
SparkWV, formerly known as the High School Business Plan Competition, allows students to generate new ideas and businesses that serve a need or solve a problem, according to the Department of Education.
Students at the Marshall Health Network Arena in Huntington were able to compete as individuals or as a team as they pitched their big ideas for products or inventions, even if they lacked the physical resources or expertise available.
Competitors also could pitch a small business that could be started in their local community.

The competition was part of West VirginiaÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s annual Bridging Innovation Week, which promotes and fosters entrepreneurship by bringing together people from across the state to cultivate a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem.
