WVFC coach and club director Kim Smee has been able to see her teamÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s growth since their early teen years.

She was excited to see all the hard work, time and energy pay off for them.

ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥œSeeing their progression and them get close (has been fun),ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥� Smee said. ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥œTheyÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™ve made the regional quarterfinal and Presidents Cup national final. TheyÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™ve been in these big moments before. So, getting to be on the coaching staff that sees them throughout to a regional final has been special.ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥�

One of the three goals scored Tuesday morning came off the foot of Aurelia Kirby off a pass from Deryn Doamekpor.

Kirby was excited about the regional championship victory and credits the camaraderie amongst the team.

ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥œThe majority of us (have been together) since the beginning of high school,ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥� Kirby said. ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥œSo, a lot of us play on different high schools, but we know what it takes to compete at a high level.

ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥œWhen we are able to all come together and focus our energy to each other, weÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™re all about getting each other better.ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥�

Smee also credits the long hours WVFC has posted.

ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥œWe trained in the heat quite a bit,ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥� Smee said. ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥œA lot of 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. sessions. We knew that would be a factor over four or five days. Our depth was crucial this weekend. We were able to sub whenever we needed to without there being a drop-off.ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥�

Zailee Roberts scored the lone goal of the first half as WVFC took a 1-0 lead into the intermission.

Roberts didnÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™t stop there. She got her second goal to slip past the Erie goalie for the first goal of the second half.

RobertsÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™ second tally was an ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥œOlimpico goalÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥� ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥” a goal scored directly from a corner kick.

DoamekporÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s pass to Kirby for the final goal was the icing on the cake for WVFC.
