Utah Jazz guard Taevion Kinsey (42) pulls down a rebound in the second half during an NBA Summer League basketball game against the Oklahoma City Thunder Monday, July 3, 2023 in Salt Lake City.
Taevion Kinsey will play in the NBA Summer League for the Sacramento Kings, his agency announced on Thursday.
Kinsey last played for the Salt Lake City Stars, the G League affiliate of the Utah Jazz. In 2024-25, Kinsey averaged 12.3 points per game on 51.9% shooting. He shot 33% from 3-point range and averaged 3.9 rebounds, 2.8 assists and a steal per game at age 24.
KinseyÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s Summer League will begin on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. against Orlando. The game will be broadcast on NBA TV.
SacramentoÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s other Summer League games will be on July 12, 14 and 16 against Chicago, Phoenix and Cleveland.
Obinna Anochili-Killen will play for the Dallas MavericksÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™ summer squad.
Currently announced Mavericks games will be on the same dates as those for the Kings. The Mavericks have, in order, the Lakers, Spurs, Hornets and 76ers on their slate. With Cooper Flagg, the No. 1 overall pick, in the fold, the first two games on the MavericksÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™ schedule, along with the matchup with Philadelphia, will be carried on ESPN.
Fletcher Magee joins Herd That
With an overlap between the second half of the NBA Summer League and the early rounds of The Basketball Tournament, it may be tough to expect either Kinsey or Anochili-Killen to join Herd ThatÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s TBT roster.
For example, Erik Stevenson was picked up for Summer League play and will no longer play for Best Virginia.
With that in mind, Wofford royalty Fletcher Magee has been announced as a pickup for Herd That.
Magee set the NCAA Division I record for 3-pointers made in 2019, ending with a career total of 505. He was a 43.5% shooter from deep and a 90.8% shooter from the stripe in his career despite his volume. In his senior season, Magee was less than 2% away from being a 50/40/90 shooter, making 148 3s.
MageeÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s record has since been broken. Antoine Davis of Detroit Mercy made 588 3-pointers from 2018 to 2023.
Magee has the most 3s made by a player to only play four seasons. Of note, Kamdyn Curfman, who ended his career at Marshall in 2024, is sixth all-time in 3-pointers made at 463.
The TBT regional in West Virginia begins on July 18 at the Charleston Coliseum & Convention Center.
Baseball Herd adds Texas transfer
Oliver Service, a Texas transfer catcher, committed to Marshall earlier this week.
Service wrapped up his sophomore season with the Longhorns in 2025. He made his first collegiate start against UT Arlington in March.
Service has three hits, a double and three RBIs in seven career at-bats and finished 3 for 4 in limited action in 2025.
Service is a native of Detroit and showcased a potential for a 107 mile-per-hour exit velocity in his recruitment profile. He was a three-sport athlete in high school.
Service wore No. 42 for Texas in honor of Jackie Robinson and was featured on MLB Network on Jackie Robinson Day.
Nieves representing Puerto Rico
Marshall volleyballÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s Isabella Nieves will play for Puerto RicoÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s U19 national team this summer.
She will play in the U19 NORCECA Pan American Cup and the FIVB GirlsÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™ U19 World Championship.
Nieves is an incoming freshman for Marshall who played at IMG Academy.
Herd track signs in-state prospect
MarshallÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s track and field team announced the signing of Caroline Ballard earlier this week ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥” a distance runner from University High School in Morgantown.
Ballard finished 18th in the Class AAA state cross country meet last season as a senior with a time of 20:06.47.
Ballard also competed in the 1600, 3200 and 4x800 relay in the state meet during track season. BallardÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s relay squad finished as the state runner-up.
