Mike Green has signed with the Baltimore Ravens, the team announced on Thursday.
Green signed a four-year, $7.4 million rookie contract. He was the last of BaltimoreÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s 11 draft picks to sign. Green will see a signing bonus of more than $2 million.
Green led NCAA Division I FBS in sacks with 17 for the Thundering Herd last season and is expected to have an immediate impact at outside linebacker. He totaled 22.5 tackles for loss, 144 sack yards and the most tackles by a defensive lineman with 84.
Before Green signed, only two other second-round picks had signed contracts. Green is now able to participate in training camp as it opens next Wednesday. Rookies reported for camp earlier this week.
While GreenÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s full contract details havenÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™t been released, part of the holdup for second-round picks has been a change in negotiations. The Houston Texans gave Jayden Higgins, pick No. 34, the first-ever fully guaranteed contract for a second-round pick in May. The Browns followed the next day, guaranteeing a contract for Carson Schwesigner, the No. 33 pick. Green is the first player from the rest of the group to sign since.
Herd hires pitching coach
MarshallÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s baseball team has found a replacement after losing its pitching coach earlier this month.
Herd coach Greg Beals announced the hiring of Marshall Hall of Fame pitcher Aaron Blair as the HerdÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s new pitching coach Friday.
ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥œI couldnÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™t be more excited to rejoin the Marshall baseball program,ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥ Blair said via news release. ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥œMarshall University holds a special place in my heart, and (wife) Caitlyn and I are thrilled to be back in Huntington and part of this community. I am grateful for the opportunity to work with this coaching staff and help develop the next generation of baseball players at Marshall.ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥
Blair has MLB pitching experience and was inducted into the Marshall Athletics Hall of Fame in 2024 as a first-ballot selection. He played at Marshall from 2011-13 and is top 10 in both career strikeouts and starts. Blair is MarshallÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s highest MLB Draft selection in history, chosen 36th overall in 2013 by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the first round.
He started 16 games for the Braves from 2016-17.
ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥œI am so excited about Aaron Blair rejoining the Herd as our pitching coach,ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥ Beals said in the release. ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥œHe obviously had a Hall of Fame career here at Marshall, and he also went on to do great things as a professional, making it all the way to the big leagues. All these experiences have shaped his philosophies and the coach he will be, and I believe he is going to be a star in our profession.
ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥œThroughout this process, I had the opportunity to not only talk good baseball but also get to know Aaron and his wife Caitlyn much better, and I couldnÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™t be happier to have them join our baseball family, as well as our Marshall and Huntington communities.ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥
