In each of the last three wins, Marshall quarterback Braylon Braxton has thrown for more than 200 yards, and he was named the SBC Offensive Player of the Week after throwing for three touchdowns and running for 140 yards against Old Dominion.

No doubt Braxton been the driving force on MarshallÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s offense, but the Dukes have one of the top-ranked defenses in the SBC and Huff said it all starts up front.

ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥œTheyÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™re able to create havoc and disruption with their front four so they donÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™t have to add guys to the box. They donÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™t have to add guys in the blitz as much,ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥� Huff said. ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥œIt keeps your defense a little more consistent when you donÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™t have to find a way to create a pass rush (or) find a way to create tackles for loss. When those four guys up front can do that, it helps.ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥�

James Madison has a remarkable plus-17 turnover margin in 2024 and has only played one game this season without forcing one, that coming in a 34-20 loss to Appalachian State last Saturday.

The Dukes have not lost at home this season, where they are 58-4 since the start of the 2016 season. One of those losses was against Marshall in 2022.

Chesney said James Madison isnÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™t focused on playing spoiler to the Thundering HerdÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s title hopes, but rather ending the regular season on a high note after a loss to Appalachian State knocked them out of the running for the East Division crown last week.

ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥œI donÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™t think anybodyÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s looking and going, ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥˜LetÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s try to ruin this for anyone,ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥� Chesney said. ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥œI think weÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™re just trying to play our best football, period, make sure that weÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™re clicking on all cylinders and that weÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™re aggressive as we can be and that weÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™re not leaving anything to chance. And thatÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s what this whole weekÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s going to be about.ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥�

The visiting team has one each of the last two regular-season meetings in this series as members of the Sun Belt Conference, but the timing of the game in 2024 sets up for a picture-perfect ending to the year with a win-and-in scenario.

ItÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s an 8 p.m. kickoff in Harrisonburg and the game will be broadcast on ESPNU. According to the forecast, itÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s also expected to be the coldest game the Thundering Herd has played in this year, estimated to be below freezing at the start of the game.
