The Lions drained 16 3-pointers in knocking off Fleming County 86-56 in the 16th Region Tournament quarterfinals at Morehead StateÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s Ellis T. Johnson Arena.
Jacob Spurlock hit nine treys, including five in the third quarter, en route to 29 points. Cole Hicks downed four triples in a 20-point effort.
Jackson Childers added 12 points and Ethan Rardon netted 10 for Boyd County (22-11).
The last time they met, the Lions set a region record for 3s with 21 in a 109-82 win over Fleming County on Feb. 11 in Summit.
The Panthers made 13 treys that night, but converted just six on Wednesday. Seth Hickerson had four of them in a 26-point outing ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥” 14 of which he scored in the fourth quarter.
By then, it was out of hand, as the Lions outscored Fleming County (21-11) 50-28 in the middle two stanzas.
Boyd County advances to the region semifinals, in which it will meet Russell, a 71-57 winner over Morgan County in quarterfinal action.

The West Virginia Class A and AA girls basketball state tournament fields are set after WednesdayÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s games.
All games will be at the Charleston Coliseum & Convention Center.
In Class A, quarterfinal games take place March 13. Third-seeded Tucker County (16-6) plays No. 6 Greenbrier West (11-9) at 9:30 a.m. No. 2 seed Tug Valley (21-2) plays No. 7 Webster County (13-11) at 1 p.m. Top-seeded Gilmer County (20-4) takes on No. 8 seed Clarksburg Notre Dame (13-6) at 5:30 p.m. Defending state champion and No. 4 Cameron (17-3) plays No. 5 Pendleton County (16-6) at 9 p.m.
Semifinals are slated for 5:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. March 14. The title game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. March 15.
In Class AA, at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, No. 2 Charleston Catholic (17-6) takes on No. 6 Logan (17-6), followed at 1 p.m. by No. 2 St. Marys against No. 7 Ritchie County. At 5:30 p.m., top seed Wheeling Central (21-2) plays eighth-seeded Philip Barbour (14-8). At 9 p.m., No. 4 Wyoming East (14-4) plays No. 5 James Monroe (19-3).
Semifinal contests are pegged for 11:15 a.m. and 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, with the championship at 10 a.m. March 15.
