CHESAPEAKE, Ohio ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥” Chesapeake started quickly, jumping to an 18-9 lead, and held off Ironton for a key 67-61 victory over Ironton on Tuesday in high school boys basketball on Norm Persin Court.
The Fighting Tigers (10-6, 8-3 Ohio Valley Conference) rallied to lead twice in the second half, but the Panthers (17-1, 11-0) closed on a 17-10 run, taking advantage of Ironton being in foul trouble.
Drew PlantzÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s layup put Chesapeake ahead to stay at 61-59. Kaden Perkins paced the Panthers with 20 points. Maddox Kazee scored 18 points and Karson Frecka netted 10.
Chesapeake was efficient, making 23 of 40 shots (57.5%), 1 of 5 from 3-point range, and 20 of 23 free throws (86/9%).
Braden Schreck led Ironton with 21 points. Aiden Layne tallied 14 points and Maddix Markel added 11.
The PanthersÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™ triumph sets up a showdown at Fairland (17-1, 12-0) at 7 p.m. Friday for the OVC lead.

Hicks drained four 3-pointers.
