ItÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s state championship weekend from University of Charleston at Laidley Field ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥“ the first one with four classes, and the first one back in the Mountain StateÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s capital in three decades. Friday and Saturday both feature two championship games.

Falcons go 2 for 2

Frankfort knocks off Roane County 49-14, making it a 2 for 2 day for raptor-themed mascots on Friday.

The Frankfort Falcons and Wahama White Falcons each lifted trophies on Friday.

Frankfort starts a running clock in the third quarter

A 44-yard pitch and catch to Blake Jacobs makes it 42-0 for Frankfort and begins a running clock with 5:53 left in the third quarter. 

Pattison picks up where he left off

Frankfort needed just three plays to move 56 yards and score a touchdown on Julian Pattison's 41 yards -- his fourth TD of the game -- to make it 35-0 for the Falcons with 10:32 to play in the third quarter.

Frankfort punches it in for six more

Julian Pattison's 1-yard run for a touchdown gives him three in the game and puts his Frankfort Falcons ahead 28-0 with 22 seconds left in the first half. 

Roane County denied again

Raiders quarterback Jacob Greathouse is intercepted in the end zone by Frankfort's Bradyn Tyler to thwart a Roane TD drive. Tyler returns it to the Falcons 18 with 2:36 to play in the first half. FHS still leads 21-0. 

Frankfort adds another TD

Julian Pattison with a 25-yard run that caps another Frankfort drive started by a Roane County fumble. Pattison now has two TDs in the game with 29 seconds to play in the first quarter to make it 21-0.

Roane turnover kills Raiders' second drive

A fumble by Roane County on what would have been a first-down run is recovered by Frankfort. Julian Pattison runs it 41 yards on the next play for another Frankfort score. Sensabaugh is good again on the point after for a 14-0 Falcons lead with 5:35 to play in the first quarter.

Frankfort takes the lead

The Falcons' defense get a stop on fourth-and-2 at the Frankfort 11-yard-line. Then Carder Shanholtz runs it for 89 yards and the first score of the game. Rhett Sensabaugh with the extra point makes it 7-0 Falcons at the 7:14 mark of the first quarter.

Roane County wins the coin toss

The Raiders have elected to receive the opening kick from Frankfort. 

Perfection on the line in Class AA

The Class AA state championship game will kick off in less than 30 minutes with No. 2 Roane County taking on No. 1 Frankfort in a matchup of two 13-0 teams. Frankfort last won a football state championship in 2014. Roane County is looking for its first.

Wahama claims the crown

Wahama holds off Cameron, 29-22, to win its second state title.

Not so fast

Cameron gets back within one score on Mason Scott's 22-yard scoring reception and Klypsan Wallace's 2-point run.

2:30 to go: Wahama 29, Cameron 22.

Turnover on downs

Cameron went for it down two scores on fourth-and-18 from the Wahama 36, but two Dragons receivers collided in the end zone and it's a turnover on downs.

White Falcons take over, 8:01 away from their second state title.

Falcons take two-possession lead

Connor Lambert gets into the end zone again, this time from 5 yards out.

Wyatt Harris' extra point expands Wahama's lead over Cameron to 29-14 with 1:47 to go in the third.

Wahama back in front

The White Falcons got the ball to begin the third quarter and promptly marched 61 yards in 12 plays -- all rushes.

Connor Lambert capped it off with a 1-yard scoring run, then added the 2-pointer.

Wahama leads, 22-14, with 7:06 to go in the third.

14-14 at intermission

Two quarters to go, and it's anybody's game in the Class A state final.

Wahama will receive to begin the second half.

All tied up

Wahama countered with Wyatt Harris' 2-yard scoring run on fourth-and-goal. Cameron challenged it, but the call stood.

Harris then tied the game at 14 with his extra point.

Big-boy drive

Cameron covers 85 yards on 16 plays, taking 11:19 off the clock, to score again. Kason Angel scores from 2 yards out.

Dragons, however, miss the 2-pointer, leaving it 14-7. 5:18 2nd.

Cameron up after one frame

The Dragons face third-and-16 from their own 19-yard line when play resumes.

Dragons fire back

Wahama looked to have Cameron stopped, but jumped offsides on fourth-and-5.

Two plays later, Wes Starcher hauled in a 14-yard scoring pass from Kason Angel, and Angel ran for the 2-pointer.

It's Dragons 8, White Falcons 7, 6:44 1st.

White Falcons strike quickly

Cameron got the ball first and lost 2 yards in going three-and-out.

Two plays later, Wahama quarterback Trace Simpkins kept and ran 36 yards to the house.

Wyatt Harris' point-after makes it 7-0, White Falcons.

Nice weather

It's a cool, clear day from Charleston -- 37 degrees at kickoff.

Spreading the wealth

In the first championship weekend of four classes, there is plenty of potential first-time hardware up for grabs.

Of the eight teams, five -- Cameron, Roane County, Frankfort, Herbert Hoover and Spring Mills -- have never won a title. Wahama owns one.

The other two -- Bridgeport and Martinsburg -- are each 10-time champions.
