Mr. FordÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s quote sums up what is going on government assistance-wise in our county and specifically West Virginia. More often than not, many people, although able-bodied, refuse to work. Instead they expect the government to pay for their upkeep. Maybe I was raised wrong, but I was taught if you wanted something you worked for it. When there are no jobs, then move to where they are. Two of my loved ones did just that. If this status quo is allowed to persist, we will be down to one congressman.
It is ludicrous to claim government money is plowed back into our economy. Many of the ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥œfreeÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥ benefits such welfare and food stamps end up paying for drugs, liquor and junk food. Those commodity cheese, ham and butter cans ended up sold for cash.
The settlers who came to our neck of the woods were very independent and tough as nails. They would have been insulted if offered government anything. The reason they came here was to escape an oppressive government. The original intent of Heritage Farm and Museum was to show and teach what our forebears did. If you have not been there, I suggest you go for a visit.
Two hundred years ago, Rep. Davy Crockett explained the limits on government spending: ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥œIt is not for you to spend!ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥ The federal government was never expected to grow to its present size or to run ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥œwe the peopleÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥ into a $37 trillion debt. Our constitution spells out the limits, leaving most to statesÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™ rights. West VirginiaÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s government is much more than we can afford. Huey Perry pointed this out when he wrote we do not need and canÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™t afford 55 counties and all the trappings that go with them. ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥œTax and spendÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥ Democrats along with RINO Republicans are having a cow over cancelling the nonessential jobs, foreign aid to our enemies, deporting criminals and sending home those people who invaded our county to live the good life at our expense.
