I wish to address and correct a recent letter that falsely claimed the Central City Farmers Market (located behind The Wild Ramp on 14th Street West) is being pushed out. This information is not only incorrect but also misleading to the public.
The Wild Ramp is a non-profit, year-round farmers market dedicated to supporting local agriculture. Importantly, The Wild Ramp operates with a mission to return 80% of sales directly to the farmer, ensuring they receive fair compensation for their hard work and dedication. This model fosters a sustainable local food system and strengthens our community by keeping resources within the local economy.
Moreover, The Wild Ramp values its relationship with the Central City Farmers Market. Both markets coexist harmoniously and share a common goal of promoting local produce and supporting farmers. Together, they serve about 125 producers, ensuring that a wide variety of locally grown food and artisanal items are available.
It was also noted in the article that there were cars in the back of The Wild Ramp instead of farmers. This observation was due to the fact that the Central City Farmers Market was not yet open when the author visited. The market is set to open on the weekend of June 29 and run through the end of October.
I encourage everyone to come out this weekend and support both The Wild Ramp and the Central City Farmers Market. Your participation helps sustain our local farmers and brings fresh food to your table. LetÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s celebrate the opening weekend by enjoying the bounty our local producers have to offer.

Illegal immigrants threaten our freedoms
Like ChicagoÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s weekend murder count statistics, the alarming frequency of random domestic mass shootings, illegal migrant attacks on U.S. citizens is becoming the norm.
At what degree of frequency will we become desensitized to the newsÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™ coverage of yet another murder of innocent children, mothers, at the hands of unvetted, illegal ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥œasylum seekingÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥ migrants who have extensive criminal records?
A second term Joe Biden under current administration policies will do little to curb this violence. Sadly, the frequency of such violent acts will likely escalate. A second-term Donald Trump will face the daunting task of identifying and deporting millions in the face of criticism from the left, human rights activists and in the courts.
Regardless of the election outcome in November, we all must take responsibility and engage every precaution for our own safety now more than ever. No more jogging or hiking alone. No more unsupervised young teens play visits to the local park. No more solo trips to the grocery store.
America was founded on inalienable principles of freedom. Yet, our freedoms are being eroded, insidiously, more and more every day by multiple sources. My hope is that our freedoms will someday be restored, that my grandchildren may be free to truly enjoy life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
