HUNTINGTON ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥” The Greater Huntington Park & Recreation District honored The WomanÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s Club of Huntington Wednesday morning for its service to the park district.
Since 2006, The WomanÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s Club of Huntington has planted sunset maple trees near Ritter ParkÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s fountain entrance along 13th Avenue. The club has planted 17 trees in total.
GHPRD and city officials honored The WomanÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s Club of Huntington by naming the Ritter Park Fountain entrance inner roadway ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥œWomanÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s Club WayÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥ for their dedicated service by helping beautify the area, Scott Miller, GHPRD superintendent said.
ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥œIt was exciting,ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥ Becky Zimmerman, member of the environment community service program said. Zimmerman said it was a long-awaited honor for the club.
The WomanÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s Club of HuntingtonÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s 120 years of service to the community was also honored during the ceremony.
ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥œWe appreciate their years of service and contributions to the beauty of Ritter Park,ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥ GHPRD Executive Director Kathy Mckenna said.
