HUNTINGTON ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥” Fires at a church in Cabell County have been ruled arson, the West Virginia State Fire MarshalÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s Office said Thursday.
Ohio River Road Volunteer Fire Department responded at about 12:10 p.m. Wednesday to a structure fire at the Brighter Day Ministry church in the 4000 block of Nine Mile Road (previously known as Cremeans Chapel Church) in Lesage. Firefighters extinguished a small fire in an attached shed on the back of the building, which they deemed suspicious.
ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥œAbout 2 hours later, we received another call for a fire at the same location. This time, fire had gutted the attached garage area that was being used for storage. Multiple other fires had been set at each door to the building and the adjacent building, but none of them extended into either one,ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥ the Ohio River Road VFD posted to its Facebook page. ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥œAll of the fires were clearly intentionally set.ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥
The state fire marshal also ruled both fires as intentionally set, according to a news release from the WVSFMO.
Investigators with the state fire marshalÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s office have preliminary leads for suspects involved with the fires and are currently following up, according to the release. Anyone with information on the fires is asked to call the WV Arson Hotline at 1-800-233-FIRE (3473).
