CEREDO ֱ A single-engine plane went off the runway Sunday afternoon and crashed into a fence at , an airport official confirmed.
ֱThere were no injuries,ֱ said Brent Brown, executive director of the airport.
Brown said a 42-year-old male student pilot was attempting to take off around 5 p.m., Sunday in a Cessna 172 aircraft when he told airport officials something ֱdidnֱt feel right,ֱ according to Brown.
ֱHe felt like the plane pulled and so he tried to abort the take off and the plane veered off the runway and hit a perimeter fence,ֱ Brown said. ֱThe pilot was unharmed and it was a solo flight so there were no other injuries.ֱ
Brown said it was not a local pilot or aircraft, but declined to give additional details as the crash investigation is ongoing.
ֱOnce our investigation is completed, we forward it to the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) and the NTSB (National Transportation Safety Board) for their review and investigation,ֱ Brown said.
Wayne County 911 said they did receive a call, but declined to give any information, including the time they received the call.
