ASHLAND ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥” When the Rock The Country music festival returns to Ashland this weekend, local residents should be prepared for traffic delays as the event welcomes thousands of attendees from across the country.
After the success of last yearÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s festival, Andrew Steele, executive director of the Boyd County Tourism & Convention Bureau, said the city is prepared for the festival and that attendees should expect a long walk from parking lots to the main event at the Boyd County Fairgrounds.
ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥œThere are multiple tiers of parking,ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥ Steele said. ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥œThereÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s ADA parking with direct access into the facilities, but theyÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™ve also secured multiple parcels around the property so thereÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s hundreds of acres of parking.ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥
With the vast amount of parking available, the festival has partnered with several local groups and businesses to shuttle attendees, according to Steele.
With the predicted influx of traffic coming in for the weekend, the Kentucky State ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥ has advised the public to seek alternative routes whenever possible.
ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥œSignificant traffic delays are anticipated along U.S. Route 60, particularly at Exit 181 and Exit 185,ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥ the KSP said in a release. ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥œThese areas will serve as primary access points for concertgoers and will experience high traffic volume, slow-moving vehicles, and potential backups during the late afternoon and evening hours on both days.ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥
KSP will work with local law enforcement and event security to manage traffic flow and ensure public safety throughout the event.
With 13 groups and artists performing over the weekend, Steele said that if anybody wants to see every group perform, they should arrive when cars are allowed to start parking around noon.
The schedule for the festival, which will be on Friday and Saturday at fairgrounds, is:
