When a grocery item is returned to the store, how much of the productÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s purchase price will you receive? What happens to the sales tax originally paid on it? What if a coupon was used to buy it? These are some of the questions my readers have been asking lately, so letÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s dive into them:

DEAR JILL: Until about a year ago, the sales tax of items returned to groceries were refunded along with the purchase prices. Since that time, the sales tax of items that I have purchased from two different grocery stores has not been refunded when I returned these items. The sales tax on items that I purchase from other stores is always refunded when I return items. Are groceries required to refund sales tax on returned items? ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥” James W.
