Hurricane 100K returns to Meeks Mountain Sept. 6
HURRICANE ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥” The Hurricane 100K Trail Run and Relay is set for Saturday, Sept. 6, beginning at 6 a.m., at Meeks Mountain Trails in Hurricane.
The 62-mile race includes cash prizes totaling $10,000.
This is for the heartiest, well-conditioned runners. Runners can go solo or as part of team of three, running 20 miles each.
Crew, family, and spectators can hang out and support their runners.
All runners receive a zip-up sweatshirt jacket with male and female sizes available, finisherÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s award, and a tote with swag from sponsors. All 100K solo finishers, within the 18-hour time limit, will receive a Hurricane 100K belt buckle.
The race is sponsored by the City of Hurricane, the Dumont Tri-County YMCA, and a host of local sponsors.

Immersive Nature Hike set for Sept. 6
HURRICANE ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥” Meeks Mountain Trail Alliance is hosting an Immersive Nature Hike with Andy McKee beginning at noon on Saturday, Sept. 6.
McKee is the owner and executive director of Zoology Zone Science Center, will lead this nature hike through Meeks Mountain to teach participants how to interact with nature. This is a hands-on experience, with the goal to foster wildlife and environmental conservation through education while providing families a time to bond over the wonders of science.
The hike will total about 3 miles.
The group will meet at the Big Red Barn at the Hurricane City Park. Participants are asked to arrive a few minutes before noon.

Wade Chapel to host 5th Sunday Evening Service
RED HOUSE ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥” Wade Chapel Church, located at 4490 McLane Pike, Red House, will have a 5th Sunday Evening Service on Aug. 31, beginning at 7 p.m.
There will be special singing by The Buffalo Methodist Church, including the choir and soloists, and tag-team preaching by pastors Mark and Logan Harris.
The church is handicapped accessible. Everyone is welcome.
Bancroft plans annual Town Picnic for Aug. 30
BANCROFT ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥” The Town of Bancroft invites area residents to ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥œcelebrate the best of small town lifeÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥ at its annual Town Picnic at Bancroft Community Park on Saturday, Aug. 30.
Enjoy grilled lunch, HuskeyÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s ice cream, music by Jay the DJ, along with games, door prizes, and local history memorabilia.
Festivities are planned from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., with lunch anticipated to be served around noon.

Hurricane Harvest Festival set for Sept. 20
HURRICANE ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥” The City of Hurricane invites folks to kick off the fall season at its annual Hurricane Harvest Festival, set for 1-6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20, at Hurricane City Park.
There will be dozens of arts and crafts vendors, inflatables, games, giveaways and live bluegrass music. Admission is free.
Suicide support group to meet
HURRICANE ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥” Just-In-Time Survivors of Suicide support group will hold a weekly meeting every Wednesday at the Putnam County Library, 4219 WV-34, Hurricane, from 6 to 6:45 p.m.

Gabriel Project to offer baby supplies
