CHARLESTON ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥” Appalachian Power representatives have announced a modified network of route options and plan two open houses this month for the Bancroft-Milton Transmission Line Rebuild Project.
The modified project plans will be presented at two open-house-type events, set for 4:30-8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24, and Wednesday, June 25, at Valley Park Conference Center, 1 Valley Park Drive, Hurricane.
The project team collaborated extensively with the community and has eliminated all routes crossing the Meeks Mountain Trails.
The project was originally announced in late 2024 and featured a pair of introductory open houses. Following those open houses, APCo received more than 680 comments from property owners, according to a news release.
ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥œAfter last yearÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s open houses, the project team went back to the table and reevaluated the route options,ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥ Aaron Walker, Appalachian Power president and COO, said in the release. ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥œWe listened to the communityÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s feedback, removed the route options crossing Meeks Mountain Trails, and rerouted several other options. We value the communityÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s knowledge of the area and hope to gather more feedback at this round of open houses.ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥
The project involves rebuilding about 20 miles of transmission line and upgrading several substations in Putnam and Cabell counties. The next round of open houses will highlight landowner and community feedback received from last yearÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s open houses and share the latest project information. The team is reviewing alternatives and modifications to previously introduced route options to rebuild the transmission line.
There is no formal presentation, so residents may join the open houses at any time during the scheduled events to meet with the project team and share feedback.

Landowners within the project area can expect to receive a packet in the mail that includes additional project details. The project team plans to use input from the community and additional field work to determine a power line route that reduces impact on the community and environment.
Company representatives plan to file an application with the Public Service Commission of West Virginia in early 2026. If the project is approved, construction is expected to begin summer 2028 and conclude by spring 2031.
