HUNTINGTON ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥” A lockdown at Huntington Middle School and Southside Elementary School on Wednesday was the result of a caller giving incorrect location information while reporting a shooting, according to a statement from the Huntington ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥ Department chief.
The schools were placed on lockdown shortly after 3 p.m. Wednesday, out of an abundance of caution, according to a notice distributed by Ashley Stephens, director of communications and family connections. The lockdown was lifted about 20 minutes later.
In a statement provided by City of Huntington Communications Director Evan Lee, HPD Chief Phil Watkins said someone called Cabell County 911 to report he had been shot and incorrectly told dispatchers he was at a location near the schools.
