HUNTINGTON ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥” A suspect in an alleged kidnapping and shooting earlier this week in Lincoln County was arrested Thursday in Huntington without incident, according to West Virginia State ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥.
Derek Orme, 37, is charged with wanton endangerment involving a firearm; kidnapping; shooting across a road or near a building; and removal, injury to or destruction of property, according to a criminal complaint filed by West Virginia State Trooper J.D. Reedy.
Witnesses said Orme fired multiple rounds into a truck with occupants in Hamlin, West Virginia. He then took his 33-year-old wife out of the vehicle against her will and drove away with her. She was found safe around 3 p.m. Tuesday in Kentucky.
Orme was processed and transported to Western Regional Jail in Barboursville. His video arraignment took place at about 11 a.m. Thursday before Cabell County Magistrate Kim Wolfe.
Wolfe said magistrates donÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™t set bond for kidnapping cases so OrmeÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s bond will be decided by the circuit court. He said OrmeÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s bond for the wanton endangerment charge was set at $75,000 by a magistrate in Lincoln County.
