HUNTINGTON ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥” Residents, visitors and park board commissioners took a walk through memory lane, ate cake and played yard games during the Greater Huntington Park and Recreation DistrictÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s centennial birthday bash Saturday.
Park board commissioners celebrated 100 years of service with residents of all ages at Ritter Park during the event. The birthday party featured live music, historical artifacts and photo displays honoring the park districtÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s history, as well as inflatables, face painting for kids and tractor barrel rides.
The park board also unveiled a new story walk through Ritter Park, completed in partnership with the Cabell County Public Library. The Huntington Cabell Wayne Animal Control Shelter volunteers had shelter dogs at the event.
The park district operates 14 park sites throughout Cabell and Wayne counties. The parks offer recreational opportunities, open green space and rental facilities.
