APPLE GROVE, W.Va. ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥” Nucor Steel West Virginia will celebrate Earth Day on April 12 with its Tire Take-Back Day.
This is the second year for the event. During its first event, Nucor and its partners ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥” Waste Management, Boyd Cat and United Rentals ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥” collected more than 500 tires from the Mason County area to be recycled into new products, the company said in a news release.
The event runs from 8 a.m. to noon. The collection area is just north of Crosslight of Hope at 254 Lova Street, Ashton. Signs will guide drivers to the collection site.
ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥œWe encourage community members to bring up to five tires to the recycling event,ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥ Nucor said. ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥œThis is a drive-through event, so volunteers will be handling the tires brought for collection. We will not accept tires on rims, oversized tires, agricultural-use tires, or tires from any private businesses.ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥
Nucor says it is North AmericaÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s largest steel manufacturer and recycler. In 2024, Nucor recycled nearly 20 million net tons of scrap while having a record safety year, the company said.
