HUNTINGTON ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥” Members of the Huntington Fire Department laid a memorial wreath at the City of Huntington Fallen Firefighters Memorial on Friday, in observance of National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend, held this year May 3-4.
ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥œThe City of Huntington Fire Department always honors the memory of those who gave their lives in the line of duty,ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥ Fire Chief Greg Fuller said in a news release. ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥œTheir sacrifice is a lasting reminder of the risks our firefighters face and the commitment they uphold to protect others.ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥
The city is also participating in the National Fallen Firefighters FoundationÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥œLight the Night for Fallen FirefightersÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥ campaign, during which all Huntington fire stations, as well as the West Virginia Building downtown, are lit with red lights from April 27 to May 4.
ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥œThis week, we honor the firefighters who gave their lives for this community. This memorial week is about more than remembrance ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥” itÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s about reaffirming our commitment to the values they lived by: courage, service, and sacrifice. In Huntington, we carry that legacy forward every day,ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥ Mayor Patrick Farrell said in the release.
