HUNTINGTON ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥” About 250 people showed up to HuntingtonÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s inaugural Housing Fair organized by the Religious Coalition for Community Renewal on Saturday, said program coordinator and housing counselor Seth King.
ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥œI had multiple people come up and tell me that they were just so pleased with the event, that they were able to get all the information they needed,ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥ King said. ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥œWe also had folks from different backgrounds, like I had some people who were looking at homeownership. I had some people who were looking for more of the rental side.ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥
The event was created as a way to meet the demand of the housing market in Huntington while also educating homeowners, first-time homebuyers and renters through a collection of resources like information booths and seminars.
King said most of the attendees appeared to enjoy going booth to booth and gathering their own information, and around 30 people signed up for the Homebuyers Education course for follow-up counseling with RCCR.
ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥œI know our secondary goal was to demonstrate that the need was there, that people wanted this information. I think with 250 people, that definitely demonstrates thatÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s something folks were worried about, is how they can take the next step in their housing journey,ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥ King said.
King said he expects the event to return next year.
Anyone who missed the Housing Fair Saturday or who would like to receive counseling from RCCR may contact King at sking@rccr.org or by calling 304-389-7623. King said the Huntington office for RCCR is expected to be ready by the end of July.
