HUNTINGTON ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥” Huntington City Council met and reapproved previously passed agenda items during an emergency call meeting Monday night.
The emergency meeting includes four previously approved agenda items passed or moved in a July 28 meeting where only six members were able to attend due to personal matters.
Because of a residency resolution voted on during the regular council meeting, which called into question Councilwoman Ally LaymanÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s residency and requested an investigation of the matter, Councilwoman Holly Smith Mount said there were concerns whether someone could challenge the agenda items.
ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥œWe donÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™t want to put ourselves into the position where someone who potentially bid or had anything to do with this money comes back and tries to argue against us as a city,ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥ Councilwoman Holly Smith Mount said. ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥œWe arenÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™t doing this as a front to Ms. Layman or to avoid public. We really donÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™t want this money to be challenged by the folks, who are otherwise involved and maybe didnÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™t get our business.ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥
Several agenda items were postponed at the meeting in July. Only time-sensitive agenda items were voted on or moved through by the council.
Three resolutions were approved, which are a budget revision No. 1 of the Fiscal Year 2025-26 general fund budget, approving the FY 2025-29 five-year consolidated plan and FY25 annual action plan for the city, and to enter into a contract to make improvements to the Huntington Wastewater Treatment Plant on behalf of the Huntington Sanitary Board.
The second reading of an ordinance to approve the bonds for the Wastewater Treatment Plant project was moved to a third reading.
