HUNTINGTON ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥” Cabell County Schools will consider selling several of its surplus items and buses during a regular meeting Tuesday beginning at 4:30 p.m.
The meeting will be hosted in the Board Office Meeting Room, at 2850 5th Ave.
According to the agenda, Superintendent Tim Hardesty is asking for permission to sell scrap/surplus equipment, including school desks, school chairs, filing cabinets, office desks, office chairs, kitchen equipment and cafeteria tables.
The items may either be sold directly to an institution that qualifies as a 501(c)(3) agency, sold by public auction or scrapped.
The auction service of choice is Ashton Auctions LLC, based in Cabell County, which would take care of advertising and fee collections. Ashton Auctions would receive 20% of gross sales to compensate for promotion, advertisement and conducting the auction, and $250 would be added to cover advertising and expenditures.
Net proceeds would be turned over to Cabell County Schools at the conclusion of the auction.
Hardesty is also recommending liquidating 10 buses through public auction or salvage. The auction service of choice is Public Surplus, an internet-based auction service.
There is no listing fee, but there is a fee of 10.5% of the selling price when the buses are sold, which is added to the sale price as a buyerÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s premium and paid by the buyer, according to the agenda. Public Surplus would take care of collections and submission of the West Virginia sales tax.
