CHARLESTON ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥” Twenty-four eighth grade teams from 19 schools in 11 counties will compete in the West Virginia Department of Arts, Culture and HistoryÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s 15th annual West Virginia History Bowl Finals at the Culture Center in Charleston on Tuesday.
Students from public, private and home-school education programs were eligible to compete in four-person teams at each of the regional and play-in competitions, according to a news release. The release said regional winners and runners-up, as well as the top eight teams from the play-in competitions, were chosen to compete in the finale.
Huntington Middle School, the champion team from Cabell CountyÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s regional competition, and Milton Middle School, the runner-up team, will compete in TuesdayÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s match.
TuesdayÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s double-elimination tournament will include lightning and team rounds, the release said. Questions were prepared by the WVDACH staff from the Archives and History section and chosen from topics like state and county culture, geography, government, heritage, history, literature, sports and tourism.
