We all have times where we need a quick boost of energy, but turning to not-so-natural energy drinks and other stimulant products might not be the best answer. Luckily, a few naturally healthy pick-me-ups can be very helpful for some quick energy and possibly provide a little extra focus.
Vitamin B-12: This important vitamin plays a role in nervous system health, promotes healthy DNA and also helps your body convert food into energy. While B-12 in its traditional form, cyanocobalamin, is perfectly fine, I prefer itÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s methylated form methylcobalamin. This basically saves your body a step in converting B-12 to a more usable form, often leading to better absorption and quicker energy. If quick energy is your goal then look for Methyl B-12, as itÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s often labeled, in a dissolvable lozenge.
Ginseng: Often referred to as a tonic herb, ginseng has a long history of use for its energizing properties. Unfortunately this impressive herb is often over harvested, so I suggest looking for a reputable brand that ensures sustainable growing and harvesting practices. Personally, my favorite ginseng product for quick energy is made from an interesting clinically-studied red ginseng known as HRG80. This ginseng is grown in a very sustainable way that actually increases itÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s active property, known as noble ginsenosides, to roughly 7 times stronger than many ginseng products. For quick energy look for chewable tablets made with this impressive type of ginseng.
These natural pick-me-ups can be very handy when quick energy is needed, but try to stick to morning or early afternoon use to make sure that they donÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™t get in the way of a healthy nightÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s sleep. Also, be sure to check with your doctor before starting any new supplement, especially if you have high blood pressure or are on medications.
But, keep these natural energizers in mind next time you need a little help with an early morning wake-up time or an afternoon energy crash.
