VFD: The Barboursville Volunteer Fire Department held an election at a meeting on June 30 for key leadership positions to serve two-year terms beginning July 1. The officers are Andrew Frazier, chief; Greg Hockenberry, assistant chief; JP Hockenberry, deputy chief; Kylie Roeder, treasurer; and Barbie Spade (firefighter/paramedic), secretary.
BAPTISM: Lia Moore, Barrett Seay, and Sidney Mitchell were confirmed recently at Kuhn Memorial Presbyterian Church, Barboursville. Sidney also received the Sacrament of Baptism. Lia is the daughter of Tim and Amy Moore; Barrett is the daughter of Charles and Angie Seay; and Sydney is the daughter of Jacob Mitchell and Danielle Mitchell.
MEMBER: PEO Chapter M welcomed new member Debbie Drum at their last meeting. PEO is an international organization that works to support women in their educational efforts with scholarships and other monetary help.
REUNION: Cindy Jobe Augsberger, a 1976 Barboursville High School grad, and her husband, DR, hosted 12 other BHS 1976 alums last weekend for a fun reunion at their home in Mooresville, North Carolina. Some had not seen each other for several years. They are Rosalene Messick Fox, Terri Perry Mc Conda, Terri Roach Owens, Lee Ann Wilson Beckett, Laura Hawk Hutchinson, Denise Walker, Cathy Wentz Easley, Karen Kimsey Sward, Cindy Thomasson Shearin, Cathy Mc Comas, Lynn Alderman Jeffords, and Andy Spencer Watson. Members of the group traveled from West Virginia, New Jersey, California, and North Carolina.
TOURNAMENT: Little League baseball and softball are being played this weekend as state tournament games will be held in different areas. Three Barboursville teams that will represent The Village are the Barboursville 8U Stripes baseball team, the 10-12 Little League baseball team, and the 10-12 softball team. The Barboursville 8U Stripes team was runners-up in the district and will represent the district along with the CK championship team at the state tournament for 8-10 year olds that begins in Huntington today, July 4. Members of the team are Brooks Keaton, Easton Cole, Madden Watson, Wyatt Smith, Matthew Smith, Jaxon Perry, Shi De Moss, Mason Myers, Corbin Johnson, Paxton Payne, Hunter Casey, and Liam Davis. Coaches are Ryan Keaton, Ryan Cole, and Patrick De Moss. The Barboursville Little League 10-12 year old baseball team will represent Barboursville in the state tournament at Elkins, West Virginia, beginning July 12. Members of the team are Adrian Barnes, Kingston Brumfield, Andy DeRose, Reece Dyer, Gunnar Francis, Lincoln Hess, Elliot Miller, Seth Ramey, Owen Roach, Cainan Robinette, Quincy Shelton, and Jaxon Thompson. The manager is Mike De Rose and the coaches are Fred Francis, Brad Caserta, Brett Dyer, Nathan Barnes, Sara Miller, and Andy Hess. Members of the Barboursville 10-12 year old softball team that will play in the state tournament on July 5 at South Charleston are Abby Salmons, Scarlett Armstrong, Rylie Ratliff, Sadie Kilpatrick, Isley Hibner, Capri Cremeans, Karly Caserta, Liza Galloway, Ella McClure, Sophie Cundiff, Avery Frye, and Layla Stephens. Coaches are James Armstrong, Chris Salmons, and Jeff Cremeans.
SALE: The Westmoreland WomanÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s Club offers a rummage and hotdog sale Friday, July 11, at the clubhouse, 2962 Bradley Road, Huntington.
