Owner and chef Kerry Martin opened the restaurant at its in August 2021 with his wife, Bina.
They decided to move their business to Huntington because they have a growing customer base in the Tri-State area. Their son also attends Marshall University and is on the football team. It will open in the location where Mo Betta BBQ used to be.
Martin is originally from Jamaica and learned to cook from his grandmother. Many of the recipes and flavors have been passed down for generations.
The menu includes items like jerk chicken, curry chicken, oxtail, curry goat, rice and peas, collard greens, cabbage, baked mac and cheese, plantains and jerk shrimp. Martin says the jerk chicken is one of the best sellers on the menu.

It donÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™t matter what it is, we will spice it up for you. WeÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™re not talking about just pouring some hot sauce on there. WeÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™re talking about actual real pepper,ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥ Martin said.
Food will be available for delivery on DoorDash and GrubHub. There is not an official opening date yet, but Martin expects Karubees to be operating by August.
