CHARLESTON ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥” An $8 million upgrade to the passenger terminal at is expected to get underway this fall, thanks to a grant from the Federal Aviation AdministrationÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s Airport Terminals Program.
Work covered by the grant will include renovating the airportÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s ticket lobby, the pedestrian ramp adjacent to the secure area exit, the baggage claim area and all connecting hallways. Ticket counters will be replaced, new digital display signage will be installed, and new flooring and lighting will be installed throughout the main lobby, according to a release from the Charleston airport.
Work on the project is expected to begin in October and take about six months to complete.
The will follow a $12 million renovation/construction project now underway at Yeager, known by its call letters, CRW.
The ongoing work involves the renovation of all pre-security restrooms, installation of a second baggage belt, expansion of the general aviation areaÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s parking apron and site preparation for a future maintenance building relocation.
