CHARLESTON ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥” Gov. Patrick Morrisey on Wednesday ordered flags to be lowered to half-staff at state facilities throughout West Virginia until sunset on the day of internment to commemorate the life and service of West Virginia Supreme Court Justice Tim Armstead, who died Tuesday.

Armstead was appointed to the House of Delegates in 1998, then elected to the seat later that year. In 2006, Armstead became Minority Leader of the Republican caucus of the House of Delegates and in 2015 became Speaker of the House, a position he held until he was appointed to the Supreme Court of Appeals in 2018. He served as the CourtÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s chief justice in 2020 and 2024.
