The Festival of Colors, shown in this undated photo and inspired by the Indian cultural festival of Holi, returns Sunday, Sept. 14, 2025, at PrabhupadaÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s Palace of Gold in Moundsville, W.Va.
MOUNDSVILLE, W.Va. ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥” There is no entry fee this year for the annual at PrabhupadaÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s Palace of Gold in Moundsville.
The Festival of Colors is a western take on the Indian Vedic festival Holi says Raghu Gupta, vice president of the ISKCON New Vrindaban community where the Palace of Gold is located.
Holi is usually held in the spring but Gupta says they celebrate in the September because it seems to be a more convenient time.
ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥œSo we bring the festival from the east, but merge it with the western vibes, and we have live music to celebrate that, we use colors and throw them on each other, a lot of young crowd gathers. They really like the music. We have vegetarian food, arts and crafts in the tents,ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥ Gupta said.
He said theyÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™re expecting at least 1,000 people to attend. Some travel from eight to ten hours away, from Canada or the east coast. ItÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s a popular event held at many temples all over the United States.
The event is from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 14, at 3759 McCrearyÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s Ridge Road in Moundsville.
ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥œItÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™s a free event and IÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥™m really hoping that we can reach out to as many people as possible across boundaries and share this festival with everyone,ÃÛÁÄÖ±²¥ he said.
